Summer Learning Journey Day 5 Blink and You’ll Miss It

Activity 1 On your blog tell us whether you think logging should be allowed in New Zealand. Be sure to provide at least two reasons to support your argument.

I do not think logging should be allowed in New Zealand. Firstly it cuts down trees that lots of our wildlife live in. Paper is waste because we all use technology now. Secondly we need trees for oxygen. They create oxygen so we breathe.

Activity 2 On your blog, write a letter to your best friend or a family member telling them about your trip to the tundra. To earn full points your letter must have a greeting (eg. Dear…) followed by 5 – 6 sentences of information about what your experience

Dear Mum
I got to go to Tundra for 2 nights. It was so exciting but really cold. It was -15 degrees. We saw lots of snow exotic animals. It was cold and unpleasant but the scenery was gorgeous. I think got sick were going. But overall it was such a fun trip!
Yours Sincerely
Rikesh

Activity 3 On your blog, post a description of life in New Zealand in 2018. Please remember that the people who read your post will have never been to New Zealand or even seen a picture so it is your job to ‘paint a picture’ of New Zealand using your words. You can also post pictures, if you wish. Be sure to fully attribute the pictures.

New Zealand is nice calm place New Zealand, beaches everywhere you look with beautiful scenery with exotic wildlife.

  2. Kia Ora Rikesh,

This is Dani, I was a blog commenter last year for the Summer Learning Journey. It is great to see that you have been busy this year completing activities, Ka pai!

You have made some good points about logging in New Zealand. The trees that are logged in New Zealand are used for many things as well as paper. For example wood for our houses and furniture. We are lucky in New Zealand to have so many trees creating oxygen for us. I hope the logging industry is limited to only working on sustainable forests, that they have created rather than logging our precious native bush.

The Tundrea you have visited sounds very cold! Do you think that you would like to visit a Tundra in real life one day? I think I would like to because it would be a very different environment to visit and explore but I don’t know how well I would deal with the cold!

You have made a great start in describing New Zealand to people who may have not been to New Zealand before. To help paint a better picture in people’s heads did you want to add more sentences to your current sentence. Maybe you could describe the wild life we have here or the beautiful environment filled with beaches, mountains and bush.

Keep up the great work, I’ll check back in 2019 to see how you are going. Have a good New Year’s with your whanau!

    Blog ya later,
    Dani
