Beeswax Wraps

Image
Hello everyone. In Te Ngahere we have been learning about and making beeswax wraps. We got some markers to make our wraps more interesting. After decorating our wraps we went to make them coat them in beeswax. We were making beeswax wraps because rubbish is a big problem in the world so we are trying have litter less lunches.

Nutrition Labels

In Te Ngahere Whaea Gina came into teach us how to eat healthy cereals and read nutrition labels. The most important part was to look at the fat, dietary fibre and sugar. Fibre has to be over five grams so you don’t starve. Sugar has to be less than ten grams so you don’t get diabetes and fat has to  be to less than ten grams as well so you don’t get fat. Also don’t forget to read the column that says per 100 grams.

Healthy and Non Healthy Takeaways Foods

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about unhealthy and healthy takeaways foods with Whaea Gina.  I learnt about how much fat there is. The best option is sushi and Subway because it has vegetables and meat and the least amount of fat. Subway has ¾ teaspoons of fat in a 6 inch sub Sushi has 1 teaspoon of fat. The worst takeaways with the most fat is KFC, McDonald's and Carl's Jr. In the future I’m going to choose what I eat carefully.

Gaming

In Te Ngahere, we have been looking at gaming and how we use it. We found out by the time a gamer turns 21 they have played 10,000 hours of gaming. Over 92% of people in Te Ngahere play online games. Mr Lindsay made a quiz about gaming and asked us questions e.g do think about gaming when offline? After that Mr Lindsay got data from the quiz and put it into percentages. Our job was to make an infographic on Easel.ly to show the results.
